Nikki is trapped in a fairytale world.

Will she ever find  way out ?

I recommend this book for anyone who likes a funny and adventurous book.

Tigolaretah

The Tigolaretah has a head of a Polar Bear,the body of a Cheetah, the legs of a Tiger and the tail of a Dog.The Tigolaretah is a very rare species and can be found in dry,grassy plains where the Jaheelot lives.The Tigolaretah is good friends with the Jaheelot.

The Tigolaretah eats leaves and meat and it drinks water.It likes swimming and running.The Tigolaretah can survive 8 days without food or water.The Tigolaretah is a very fast predator.It eats any kind of meat like, Rabbits, Warthogs, Gazelles, Zebras and sometimes even Wildebeest.It can run away very fast to escape it’s predator.

It would be very rare to find a Tigolaretah.

Moment in Time

“Brrrrrrrmmm”,I turn around and see my cousin soaring through the air on his dirt bike.The sun is reflecting of his bright,white helmet.I can feel butterflies in the pit of my stomach rising up and up.My heart beats faster and faster.I’m really nervous because he could get hurt.

I look at his dad.His dad seems as calm as ever.If I were on that dirt bike I would be so scared.My cousins dad is wearing a light navy blue t-shirt and white pants with two patches of dirt on his knees.I look back at my cousin.I can see his shadow following and copying whatever he does.There is a trail of dirt following him.

I look at the ground.It is nothing but scorched brown dirt.The sun is shining warmly on my back.I look up.The sky is like a big blue blanket.The clouds are like little pieces of cotton floating in the sky.I look around.All the grass is a yucky shade of yellowish and brownish mixed together.

I can hear the birds chirping and I can see them flying high in the sky.I look back at my cousin.His number on his dirtbike is number seventeen.That makes me wonder.I wonder who invented numbers? Who invented words?How could someone say something if words weren’t invented?I really,really want  to find out someday.

Moment in Time

Whoosh! I can feel a light soft breeze blowing past me.I can smell the smell of freshly cut grass.The sun is shining warmly on my back.I look up and see a lovely shade of blue in the sky,almost hidden through the clouds.I can see the mountains in the distance going up and up,towering over lots of trees.

I can hear the birds chirping as they fly high over the marae.I look over at the manuhiri(visitors). They are crowded in a long,long line.I hope that they are looking at the carvings on the waharoa (gate).”Haere Mai E Na Manuhiri Haere Mai Haere Mai”.The Powhiri is starting.

Whoosh! Another gust of air blows past me.It cools me down.I drown out all the sounds and voices around me.I turn around and look up at the marae.I Wonder what the first ever Marae was called?Who built the first ever Marae?How long ago was it?20 Years?50?Id really like to find out someday.

Moment in Time

The wind whispers and brushes past my face. Leaves crunch and crackle under my shoes as I run to catch up with my cousin and his dad.As I run to them I can see fluffy,puffy white marshmallow clouds floating up in the sky with a beautiful shade of blue in the background.The trees stand straight up like soldiers.I can see my cousin talking to his dad.

His dad is saying how proud he is of his sons great game that day.My cousin says “Thanks dad”.They are both smiling cheerfully.I can hear the birds chirping happily.I go back to the conversation,my cousins dad says that he thinks his son should go into the fifa world cup.I wonder how many people in each country are allowed to play in the fifa world cup?Who decides which country gets to be in the Fifa World Cup?

Moment in Time

“Brrrmmm”,I can hear the sound of cars whizzing by.I turn to see the cars.All of the cars are just a big blur.I look up.White clouds cover the sky with little flashes of blue every now and again.I look down and see the shiny dark blue sea shimmering as it reflects of of the sun.

I look out in the distance and see a little wharf.I can just make out a little boat in the distance.”Ahhhhhhh”I can hear someone shouting behind me.I turn around to see who the shout came from.I see a boy who has just jumped of of a ledge.I freeze.My veins pulse.My heart beats faster and faster every second.My whole body tightens.I can feel sweat trickling down my face.

I am very scared.There could be rocks at the bottom.There could be sharks,stingrays,jellyfish, anything at the bottom of the sea.Sea?That makes me wonder.Its terrible how the sea levels are rising.How people are fleeing their countries from sea levels.They could drown if they stay in their country.There are also people who are fleeing their countries from war.We CAN help.We can help by letting more refugees into our country.

Moment in Time

I look at the picture of the old school, and as I look at it I think about when I was little.The old building made out of brown bricks like the three little pigs last brick house.The school looks so real as if I can walk over and touch it.”Brianna,Brianna lets go look at something else”KC jolts me out of my memorie. My memorie drifts away.

I turn around and look out the window.Birds chirp very sweetly as they fly into the sunlight.The sun shines bright as a light.The blue sky is like a blanket with little white patches on it.Sunlight wafts through the window shining bright and warm on my t-shirt.

The sea glistens in the distance shimmering and glimmering in the sunlight.The trees stand as tall as soldiers,some of them a brilliant green and some are beautiful crisp autumn colours like green,yellow and red.

As I look at the trees I start to wonder.I wonder how the first tree was made? Humans would’ve made the first tree but how was that human made?God has to have a mum and dad to and then his mum and dad had a mum and dad and on and on and on.Its so confusing.I hope in the future someone will figure it out.

Hi,my name is Francis.I live in Assisi.I grew up with everything since my family was rich.When I was a young man I wanted to join the army and become a noble knight so my dad(Peter Bernardone) bought me a gold suit.However I heard of a man who had no suit of armour so I gave mine to him.When I was 20 I went out to war to the city of Perugia.I was taken prisoner because of my fine clothes.While I was in prison I thought about what I had done in my life.I became kinder to my friends in prison.I still wanted to become a knight so I set out to join the popes army.When I arrived I had a strange dream.A voice was saying “Follow the real Lord and not a servant”.I knew it was Jesus calling me.When I arrived in Assisi I met a leper.I got of my horse and hugged and kissed the leper.I started going to church every day.One day I heard a voice calling from the cross saying”Francis can’t you see that my house is falling down.Go and rebuild it.”I thought Jesus meant the church that I prayed in every day so I fixed and rebuilt it.Later I understood that Jesus had not meant that church but to renew the whole church of poverty and love.My father did not like this so I took of all my clothes only leaving a poor cloth and put that on the ground along with my money.I then said”From today I want to follow Christ and my only father will be God ,the father in heaven”.I encouraged people to change their lives and to live in poverty.I had some followers whom were Bernard,Peter and Leo and many others.One woman wanted to follow my example to.Her name was Claire and in 1212 she joined me.She soon had a group also who were called the “Poor Claires”.I died on October 3 ,1226.That is my story.

Rap-Unzel

Rap-Unzel

On the 12 November, at 11:30 a show called Rap-Unzel was being held for the kids at Christ the King. There were only 3 people doing the show.Their names were Jane,Jack and Ben.All the parts that they played were nursery rhyme and fairytale characters.Jane was Rapunzel,Sleeping Beauty and Jill. Ben was Jack,Prince Rupert, Aladdin,Rapunzels sister,Pinocchio and Rapunzels father.Jack was Simon Cow and Prince Rupert’s father.The 3 main parts were Simon Cow, Rapunzel and Prince Rupert.Everyone  laughed when Prince Ruperts pants almost fell down so that you could see his knickers.

Overall I really enjoyed the play.It was really funny and RaP-punzel is now my favourite play.

I think that this play is good for all ages,Adults and kids.

Once a long, long time ago the Pelican had a short beak and Gold and white feathers.The Pelican flew high above the trees and swam in the river but it was very hard to catch fish. The Pelican had lots of friends like ducks, sparrows, seagulls and other birds.She liked to show off her Gold and White feathers because they were so beautiful.One stormy night an old woman moved into the forest and built a shelter.Then she lit a fire and started saying weird voodoo things.The Pelican thought this was very strange but then she thought if the woman was saying weird voodoo things than she must be a witch.She told all the other birds of the forest about this.Then she went to the river to try and catch some fish but it was useless, she couldn't catch any.The next night was very stormy and lightning struck the Pelican.She lay on the beach crying in pain, then she fell asleep.In the morning she looked in the river and saw that her feathers had changed colour. Instead of being Gold and white they were now black and white.She decided to go to the old witch for help.The old witch said “Okay but i'm not very good at spells nowadays.Too old”.She said a spell but it was the wrong one.Instead of making her feathers Gold and white again the witch made her beak long.The Pelican pleaded the witch to make her beak short and her feathers Gold and white again but the witch said the spell was permanent and from that day on the Pelican had a long beak (which helped it catch fish) and black and white feathers.

Janey Brown is just a normal girl who has just started a new school.She has no friends except for her teacher who is the only one that is nice to her.On one particular day her P.E gear melts at P.E time so she has to sit by the gates and miss out. Janey doesn't know it but on this day everything will change.While she is sitting there a very fat woman who says that she is Janeys Godmother but likes to be called G-mamma tells Janey that she is a spylet called Jane Blonde and that she is a super spy.Meanwhile the evil Sinerlesse group is trying to uncover a secret from Janey’s father Boz “Brilliance” Brown who was also a super spy but the thing is that Janey’s father died when she was born.How will Janey stop the evil Sinerlesse group with evil lurking around every corner.

I love this book.I recommend it for anyone who loves a good spy book.Ages 9+.

And also Marty likes drawing these comics called Mighty Mart..Martys mum is a dressmaker and she needs a place to put all of her dresses so she decides to put them in Martys room.Marty then has to move out of her room.Marty and Melissa then have to share a room.Will Marty and Melissa ever learn to get along?

I recommend this book for anyone who likes Jacqueline Wilson books.

Giant Madness

Giant Madness There was once was a little cottage on the top of a mountain beside the woods. In the cottage there lived 2 sisters with their mother and father.The oldest sister’s name was Elizabeth and the younger sister’s name was Jasmine.Jasmine was more of a fighting girl. Her hero was Artemis,the greek goddess of light and protector of the vulnerable. She also helped her father and mother a lot.The older sister used up all  her time looking in a mirror and saying how beautiful she was.(To tell you the truth whenever a person looked at her they fainted from her ugliness.Yes she was that ugly.)She never ever helped her mother and father. One day Their father told Elizabeth to go get some wood from the forest. So she went to the forest. She only chopped twice when she  screamed. She had accidentally chipped her nail but when she turned around she saw the ugliest giant she ever saw in her life. He even had stink fumes coming out of him and there was a bunch of flies buzzing around him. She screamed right at the same time the giant screamed and she ran out of the woods right at the same time the giant ran into the woods. The giant ran away from Elizabeth because Elizabeth’s face was the ugliest face he ever saw in his life. Elizabeth told her father,mother and Jasmine about the giant. Jasmine said she would follow the giant and then kill it and so off she went into the woods. She found the giant and quietly followed him for 3 days. She found out that every day at 2:00 the giant would go to the prince’s castle and try to kill the prince but he could never kill the prince. Jasmine decided to save the prince and so on the fourth day she followed the giant to the castle.She jumped on top of the giant and with one swing of her sword she chopped his head off. She then called out to the prince that she had killed the giant and she asked if he would let her in. In Jasmine’s great amazement the prince threw down his hair so she could climb it. It was a lot of hair let me tell you. As long as Rapunzels. Jasmine climbed up the prince’s long flowing hair and they were married. Jasmines family were rich and lived in the castle with Jasmine and the prince. At first the prince wouldn’t let Elizabeth in because she was so ugly but then she offered to have her face reconstructed.But after only one second of having her face reconstructed the machine blew up because her face was so ugly.The prince eventually let Elizabeth live there but everyone lived happily ever after.

Dodge is a retired K-9 agent who used to work for the cops.Cassie(his girl) takes Dodge as her pet and together they solve mysteries.

When Madame Lefarge (The town eccentric) is mysteriously found dead,Dodge and Cassie will stop at nothing to solve this case.It is said that Madame "slipped and fell"in her kitchen but seriously that is just not how a crazy woman would die.Cassie and Dodge even miss Madame Lefarge.They even take home one of Madame's cats, called Bananas.They sneak around the neighbourhood searching for clues.Its weird how one of  Madame's neighbour's keeps staring at her house and how the other seems so happy all the time and the other super hates madame but says that she “misses Madame”.Could some of the neighbour's be hiding something?Then to top it all up the retirement home people seem to get younger every day until one lands in hospital.Something isn't right here and its up to Dodge and Cassie to find out.

I recommend this book for everyone ages 8+ who love a good mystery.These series really hook you in and you feel like you are in the book with all the characters.My favourite character is Dodge. 

Dress up time

Dress up time “Catch that cat!”said Trinity as I ran after her.We ran into the backyard and I grabbed Snuggles(snuggles is Trinity's cat).Snuggles is grey with different shades of brown and white on her back.I was at Trinity's house and we had just had lunch.Snuggles had just ran out the door and we needed to do something to her.”I got her”I said.We took Snuggles into Trinity's room and shut the door so Snuggles couldn’t get out.I put snuggles down and Trinity got her……….Wait for it,Wait for it…….little dolls nightie!.I held Snuggles while Trinity put the nightie on Snuggles.Snuggles didn’t mind though because Trinity does this to her all the time.I got Trinity's little doll pram out and Trinity put little doll pillows at the back of the pram.We put Snuggles in and Trinity put a doll blanket on her.We pushed the pram outside where my mom and Trinity's mom were. Tane (trinity's dog)was black and had only one eye.He barked at Snuggles playfully.Trinity's three chickens clucked at us.They always cluck.Trinity's mom said “Awwwwwww so cute”.We brought Snuggles back inside and put her in the doll bed.But Snuggles climbed out,pushed the nightie off of her and ran out the door.”Oh no”Trinity said.But we were too late.Snuggles had gone under the house.What a fun day! Matariki

The flames of the campfire flickered as I walked through the sand in my bare feet.The waves splashed almost silently.I stare up at the sky. The stars twinkle brightly.Everyone is talking.As I run over to my friend violet,I look up at the stars.We were at the beach celebrating Matariki.

I gaze up to see Matariki.The seven stars seem to glisten in the moonlight.All the stars dance and twinkle throughout the night sky. As I walk I can feel the crunchiness of the sand beneath my bare feet.I can see the red fire with flashes of gold ,sparkling into ambers which drift and disappear into the darkness.

The sea swishes and swirls and the white foam floats on the calm waves. Shells scatter the beach.I breath in the salty smell of the sea.Everywhere people are laughing ,whistling ,singing or just talking.The scene is beautiful.

As I look around at all the people I wonder if people in other countries celebrate the seven stars? Do they tell stories and eat meals together as we do at matariki? I would like to find out one day.

“Aaaaaaaaa what’s that”. I saw a big hand coming towards me. I tried to move away but the hand got me. It half dragged,  half pulled me out to a stage. I knew I was in the shearing shed. Suddenly, I saw about a thousand beady eyes staring at me. I started to run away and the people started laughing.”What’s so funny?”, I thought. Next thing, I know this funny little machine starts making a very loud noise and the tall woman is making it come toward me. I started to panic but I couldn’t move because the woman put my head between my legs. I started to yell for my friends but they couldn’t hear me.The woman started shearing my bottom. Finally, I stopped squirming and I let her finish. Then she pushed me down the sheep shute. It was really dark, but then I saw one of my friends stuck down here too.” Maybe it isn’t so bad down here after all” I thought.

Hundreds of years ago, lots of people fought and killed others. A chief called Nunuku wanted to end the fighting and killing. All the chiefs of Rekohu agreed.

The law was, if two people were in a fight they were allowed to hit each other but if someone started to bleed they had to stop fighting immediately. In 1835, Rekohu was invaded by the tribes of New Zealand. The chiefs came together to discuss what they should do. Fight or not to fight.

The chiefs decided  not to disobey Nuku's law so they decided not to fight.Over two hundred moriori people either died or became slaves to the tribes of New Zealand. Today their names are carved on the pou at Kopinga Marae to honour their bravery and legacy of peace.

In 1870, the native land court had been awarded 58 516 hectares to ngati mutunga .And for the morioris 1640 hectares.Tame Horomona Rehe died in 1933. He was the last full Moriori descendant.A programme was formed to save the endangered Chatham Islands black robin (toutouwai) on Mangere island. In 1976 there were only seven birds left. At around 2010, there were about 200.There was an unveling of the statue of Tame Horomona Rehe on the 29th December at Manukau Point. It was unveiled by David Lange the prime minister.1988 the moriori arranged a claim for the return of their landl,their identity and culture and fishing rights. The Waitangi tribe confirmed the claims from  the Moriori as Tchakat Henu of Rekohu. The Hokotehi Moriori’s trust was represented to all of the Moriori people. In 2004 Moriori got their share of the fishing rights back from the Treaty of Waitangi fisheries Commission. On 21 January, Kopinga Marae was opened by Helen Clark who was the Prime Minister of New Zealand. Hoketehi and the crown established a $6 million trust fund to help rebuild Moriori culture and identity.

On Friday 9th May, Christ the King School went to Manukau Vodafone event centre to watch Sancta Maria’s college students do a play of Beauty and the Beast (Disney version) .An old woman comes to a big beautiful palace on a cold wet night.The old woman simply asks the man(the owner of the palace)for a place to stay for the night. The man said no.Then the old woman turned into a beautiful woman.She cursed the man and everything in his palace. The man turned into a Beast and the subjects turned into furniture with faces that can move.The woman gave the Beast a beautiful rose.She told the Beast that if he can find someone he loves before all the petals fall off than the curse would be broken. Belle and her dad (Maurice) are odd people in their village.Everyone in the village thinks that Gaston is the strongest and bravest man , even Gaston thinks that’s true.He asks Belle to marry him but he  refuses. Meanwhile Maurice gets lost in the woods on his way to a science convention. He finds an old,dreary castle,goes in and is greeted by talking candles,clocks and teapots.The Beast(the owner of the castle)puts Maurice in a cold dungeon.Belle goes looking for her dad and also finds the castle.She begs the Beast to take Maurices place in the dungeon. The Beast agrees. Each day Belle gets to know the beast more and more and finds out that he can be kind and not always bad-tempered. Meanwhile Maurice returns to the village cold and sick and he tells everyone in the village about the Beast.They think he’s crazy.Belle misses her dad  so the Beast lets her go and gives her a magic mirror that can show you anything.When she got back to the village she showed everyone the Beast in the magic mirror. They thought he was a bad Beast so they decided to hunt him down. Belle tried to stop them but she couldn’t.When the villagers got to the castle they got scared and ran away,all except for Gaston. He found the Beast and stabbed him just as he fell and died.The Beast fell down just as Belle ran in.She said”I love you”and the curse was broken.The Beast turned into a handsome prince and all the talking furniture turned into humans again.Belle and the Beast were married and lived happily ever after.The End.

Nikki Maxwell is the main character. Her school is having a talent competition. She and her BFFS(Chloe and Zoey) sign up. Then she finds out that her arch-nemesis(Mackenzie) is signing up too. Mackenzie is determined to win. Can Nikki take on the most popular girl in school and win? This is a hilarious and awesome book.  I recommend this book for all ages over 9.
