Malala Yousafzai Biography
Malala was a teenage activist who was born on 12th July 1997 in Mingora, the Swat district of North West Pakistan. She went to school at Edgebaston High School and started advocating for girls rights when she was 11. Her father’s name is Ziauddin Yousafzai and he was an educational activist against the Taliban. The Taliban were taking over their country and they started closing down schools and shot lots of people.
Malala became an activist against the Taliban and stood up to them. She ended up getting shot in the head by a bullet and she had to go to several hospitals. Thousands of children prayed in Sunni Islam which was Malalas religion for her. Malala got lucky and overcame the injury from the bullet that went through her head. A few years later she was talking all about women’s rights for education.
Malala is an inspirational person and she had the honour of being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (2014), Sakharov Prize for Freedom of thought (2013) and Simone de Beauvoir Prize(2013). She has now published a memoir and is famous for her quotes like “When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful” and “One child, One teacher, One book and One pen can change the world.” The world wouldn’t be the same without Malala.
